Segerstrom Center’s Candlelight Concert

Patrons of the arts gathered Dec. 4, 2015, for an evening of fine dining and showstopping performances at Segerstrom Center for the Arts. In its 42nd year, the Candlelight Concert delighted guests with a cosmopolitan theme: All the World’s a Stage. After a cocktail hour, attendees listened to Grammy Award-winning jazz pianist and singer Diana Krall before the velvet curtain behind her lifted to reveal a dining space awash in the glow of crystal chandeliers. Borrowing from the grand tastes of St. Petersburg, the first course opened with deconstructed caviar and frosty ice shot glasses filled with Jewel of Russia vodka. Then, the menu took a turn for the Big Apple as guests dined on surf and turf—Atlantic lobster tail and beef. The meal had a sweet finish as servers passed decadent Parisian chocolate pieces, tarts and eclairs before the room came alive with dancing to the sounds of KC and the Sunshine Band. The evening raised $2.1 million. —Lauren Matich

Gallery of Cosmetic Surgery Fundraiser

Dr. Kevin Sadati of Gallery of Cosmetic Surgery hosted a festive fundraiser Dec. 1, 2015, to both celebrate the holiday season and support local nonprofit Breast Cancer Angels. Taking place at the center on San Miguel Drive just outside of Fashion Island, the evening—which also served as a patient appreciation event—offered discounted prices on an array of services such as Botox and fillers, as well as products like serums and cleansers. A portion of the proceeds from the night were donated to Breast Cancer Angels; for instance, for every $500 of product purchases, $100 was donated, and for every Botox package purchased, $200 was donated. In addition to purchases, funds were raised for the nonprofit organization through raffles that took place throughout the night. Around 60 people attended the celebration and were treated to light appetizers, Champagne and signature cocktails. —Newport Beach Magazine Staff
