Laura’s House Gala Nets $150,000 For Domestic Violence Victims
About 275 community members gathered at the Newport Beach Marriott Hotel & Spa on Oct. 6 to raise money for Laura’s House, an organization that supports those affected by domestic violence. The ball featured cocktails, silent and live auctions, dinner and music. Philanthropist Anne MacPherson was honored with the Crystal Heart Award for her generous contributions, and Edwards Lifesciences received the Corporate Crystal Heart Award. Laura’s House CEO and Executive Director Margaret Bayston explained that one in four adult women and one in five high school students report physical and/or sexual abuse by a dating partner. Proceeds will fund programs provided to those impacted by domestic violence. —A.B.
